Concept single artwork for neo-soul group L.Flora.

Lead vocalist and lyricist Millicent Khalu approached me with the intention to produce a single art that represents the message of her single ‘Wayside’. This is the second single released from the group’s latest album.

I wanted to tie in elements from our other project ‘Don’t Call Me’. So my approach was similarly inspired by ‘live collage’ style photography. I wanted to bring back a reoccurring character, the ‘man wearing gloves’ as our common antagonist that Millie writes about in both her singles.

As expressed in Millie's lyrics, the antagonist character irritates her sense of direction and self-worth. This was something I was hoping to portray in a single image both aesthetically and narratively.

I wanted the challenge of working with something unforgiving if it were done live, like water particles on a moving subject. I was hoping this image could capture the viewers’ attention for its very clinical yet comical energy.
